Things get difficult when you start comparing your lifestyle with others. Friends, family, feelings, love life, commodities, experiences, and lifestyle are not supposed to be set side by side or compared with one another. Such things lead to jealousy, hatred, and envy and we become unthankful even for the things we are blessed with. We don’t choose our standards but we are born with one. We can either develop it or morn over it and the choice lies in our hands.

There are always two sides to a single coin. If an ant sees a hurdle in a way, instead of giving up it moves towards that hurdle and makes its way home. So is the case with us. We should be strong enough to face hurdles in life to weigh our strengths and weaknesses.

Firstly, the middle class isn’t a taboo and we need to understand this. Instead of feeling ashamed of being middle class, we should realize how blessed we are. Talking about myself I am not completely happy with this life but I know what this life has given me. There is a saying that we can’t feel someone’s pain until we don’t walk in their shoes and by living this life I have completely understood this.

Mother shouting and taunting at 7 in the morning and telling us it’s already 7:30 so we can wake up and get ready for our school and offices. The hustle at the dining table and fight over the perfect fried egg with siblings, hiding the TV remote to watch your favorite program, filling one large shopper with numbers of small shopping bags, sticking the smallest soap with a new one, making rooh afzah and tang for guests instead of juice or cold drinks, asking for bribe from siblings to do their task and reminding them what they did to you in your childhood, crying for privacy and many different things you can add on.

It might have brought a smile to your face to go through all these sweet and sour memories and relate yourself without feeling down or ashamed. We must not degrade ourselves and the lifestyle we are living. This is what God has planned for us and we must respect His decisions in all aspects of our lives. Life is supposed to be difficult and without difficulties and hurdles, one can’t value it. So keep up your morale and spirit no matter what. You are awesome, go on…. ❤
